LINEAR-PUNCTUAL SIMULTANEITY – ABOUT ONE TYPE OF SENTENCES WITH TEMPORAL CONJUNCTIONS MEDAN/DOK AND NÄR/KAD(A) IN SWEDISH AND SERBIAN

Abstract

By investigating how linear-punctual simultaneity as a type of temporal relation between the two predicates in complex sentences with embedded temporal clauses is manifested in Swedish complex sentences with embedded medan- and när-temporal clauses and their Serbian counterparts with embedded dok- and kad(a)-temporal clauses, we bring to attention some of the syntactic-semantic features of these complex sentences in Swedish and Serbian; the focus of our investigation lies primarily on those syntactic-semantic features of such Swedish and Serbian complex sentences which are reflected through and conditioned by the syntactic-semantic characteristics of their correlated predicates.
